WD Black SN850 vs Corsair Force MP600: With Benchmark Comparisons

WD Black SN850 and Corsair Force MP600 both are Gen 4 NVMe Solid State Drives. WD Black SN850 offers higher data read/write speed but is slightly more expensive than MP600. But, the real tests are going to be there in the upcoming section of your article.

The main drawback of SN850 is that it doesn’t have any encryption. If you are OK with this con, I would recommend this SSD over the MP600. The actual performance is also better in the SN850. It is going to offer a better read/write performance whether it is sequential or random.

Both SSDs are using the TLC NAND Flash. However, SN850’s controller is much more powerful. So, now that you are aware of the fact that the SN850 is good in terms of performance, price is going to be the main deciding factor.

Let’s talk some more about these both the SSDs below in our article.

As we discussed earlier, WD Black SN850 is promising a better read/write speed. Also, it has a higher amount of MTBF. You can say that the only benefit the MP600 comes with is its AES 256-bit encryption which SN850 lacks.

The test bench is equipped with an Intel Core i5 12600K CPU along with a 16GB DDR4 4800MHz RAM kit. The motherboard is MSI Pro Z690-A DDR5. Both the SSDs are 100% empty during the tests and 1TB variants are utilized to run the benchmark tests.

CrystalDismMark is another simple-to-use storage benchmark software. It is generally used to run sequential and random system tests using different file sizes. The default sequential read/write test is 1M at Q8T1 and Q1T1. The default random read/write test is 4KB at Q32T1 and Q1T1. You can easily change these test types along with the total test file size.

AS SSD is another very popular storage benchmarking software. It again runs some random tests to test sequential and random performance. You can set the test size from 1GB to 10GB. It will give you a score that can be helpful to compare the performance of two different SSDs.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities is our next benchmark software with a pretty simple interface. It runs all the tests automatically and gives you a final score. A higher number means better performance. It runs a wide array of tests including Seq 4MB, 4K, 4K QD4, 4K QD16, 32K, and 128K, in both read and write formats

Clearly, the SN850 is winning all the benchmark tests and becoming the winner of this comparison. In simple words, if you are looking for performance, SN850 should be your pick.

After looking at the benchmark scores, I am perfectly sure that the SN850 is a better-performing Gen 4 NVMe SSD between the both. MP600 is also a good option for professional users but SN850 is still raising the bars high. The price could be the main deciding factor for everybody. But, because you will find the SN850 at a smaller price, it will be good for you in any case.
